The CC167 Thermal Overload Unit is a Type S Class 20 melting alloy thermal unit used in motor starters and motor control systems to help protect your motors from prolonged overload conditions. Motor current passes through an internal heater winding within the thermal unit. As current increases during an overload condition, heat builds inside the device. If the overload continues long enough to reach the unit's trip point, the melting alloy mechanism activates and opens the control circuit, shutting down the motor.
